Back To School MakeUp Tutorial: Neutral Eye Look Using Fingers

The first day is the most exciting part of going back to school. And even though you really want to look your best, let's face it! It's really difficult to get out of the bed in the morning especially after a very fun summer vacation. That is why, I made this tutorial for those who still want to look a little bit put-together on their first day back to school but don't want to spend so much time doing their makeup.

Face Primer: REVLON Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer
Concealer: e.l.f. Complete Coverage Concealer
Foundation: Garnier's new "Miracle Skin Perfector" (All-in-1 moisturizer with a BB finish)
Setting Powder: AVON's Shine No More Dual Powder Foundation (color: almond)
For Contouring: AVON's Shine No More Pressed Powder (color: natural)
Eyeshadow: NYX Nude on Nude Palette
Eyeliner: AVON's eyeliner pencil
Mascara: MAYBELLINE Colossal Volum' Express
Blush: L'oreal Blush in Pink Marshmallow
Lips: MAYBELLINE lip balm in strawberry

This is a very neutral natural eye look which can be easily achieved by using just your fingers. As for the cheeks, I just went with a rosy pink blush and finished it off with a strawberry color lip balm. I hope you enjoy it! :)

MakeUp Tutorial: Eyeliner + Q-tips = SMOKEY LOOK!

This is my version of an easy daytime smokey look which I posted on my beauty channel on August 4th, 2012. It's really very easy to do and it's not too loud especially because it's intended for a daytime look. You only need three simple things: (1) a creamy eye liner pencil; (2) a couple of q-tips or cotton swabs, and (3) a felt liner / liquid liner / gel liner.

Here's the list of products I used in the video:

AVON's eyeliner pencil
Cotton swabs/Q-tips
MAYBELLINE Express Smooth Felt Liner
ETUDE HOUSE #5 Orange Mango Fit blush
REVLON Colorburst Lipstick in 075 Peach

If you want to wear it during nighttime, all you have to do is to add more eye liner pencil to intensify the look. Just don't forget to smudge and blend it with the q-tip for that desired smokey effect. You can use this same method with a colored eye liner pencil. *wink wink*

My In a Hurry Foundation Routine

This is one of those many entries that I owe you. This should have been posted last month, however I couldn't get my schedule right yet during that time, so I really apologize for the delay.

Anyway, here's my in-a-hurry foundation routine which I posted on my beauty channel on YouTube on August 3rd, 2012.

Here is the list of products I used in the video:

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer (DRY-TOUCH SUNBLOCK) SPF 30
AVON's Perfect&Hide Concealer Stick (color: almond)
AVON's Shine No More Dual Powder Foundation (color: almond)
AVON's Shine No More Pressed Powder (color: natural)
Maybelline BABY LIPS in smoothing cherry
MAC Fix+

MakeUp Tutorial: e.l.f. QUAD - Everyday Wearable Makeup Look

This entry is sort of a continuation of the previous one. I started my new YouTube channel on July 5th, 2012 but I only was able to upload my very first video on July 25th, 2012. I thought it would be very easy but when I was editing it, the more I admire those beauty gurus that I’ve been watching for like two years, because I just found out that editing videos can be kinda tricky. I mean, filming a tutorial is really fun! Editing it afterwards is just another story, hahaha.

And so, I did successfully film and edit my very first video and uploaded it to YouTube and started waiting for what’s gonna happen next. I was not able to sleep the night I uploaded my very first video. I got very anxious on how it’s gonna turn out that I’ve become so restless. I got some views and some likes and some comments. And I’m already happy! I just really love the thought of just staying at home but being able to reach out to other people all around the world. It’s amazing! You gotta believe me, it really is!

If you haven’t watched my first video yet, here it is:

Products I used:
Watsons Clean Hands Gel (Fruity)
REVLON: Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer
REVLON: Colorstay (200Nude)
AVON Pressed Powder (Natural)
AVON Pressed Powder & Foundation Duo (Almond)
L’OREAL OpenEyesPro quad in Smoky Brown
E.L.F. eyelid primer
E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color quad in #11006
MAYBELLINE Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara
N.Y.X. blush in PB 07 Natural
Nude lipstick from Etude House
AVON lipstick in M109 amelia rose
*by the way, I have oily/combination skin.

Before we start putting any makeup on our face, we need to make sure that we already have it cleansed, toned and moisturized.

Step 1: Start with clean hands. Although I already have washed my hands before I filmed this video, I still used a hand sanitizer before starting with my makeup. It’s a good habit. *wink wink*

Optional Step: This is actually an optional step. You don’t necessarily need to put on a smoothing primer before your foundation. It’s just one of the ways I have found to make my foundation stay on a little bit longer.

Step 2: Apply foundation. You can use a brush, a sponge or even your fingers in doing this step. It really depends on what method you’re used to. If it is your first time, I suggest starting with your fingers.

Step 2.2: Although I didn’t do it in this video, you can apply your concealer to those areas that need more coverage, especially if your foundation was not able to cover it up. In my case, the foundation I used provides full coverage.

Step 3: Contour. Most people use a bronzer for this step. I would love to if I own one, hahaha but since I don’t have any at the moment, I used a pressed powder that is 2-3 shades darker than my skin tone.

Step 4: I set everything with my pressed powder using a powder brush from ecotools.

Step 5: Define eyebrows. In here, I used the brown E/S from my OpenEyesPro quad in Smoky Brown by L’oreal. I used an angled brush from ecoTools to fill in the gaps in between my brows.

Step 6: Prime the lids. I applied the e.l.f. eyelid primer onto my eyelid up to my brow bone and lower lash line using my ring fingers.

Step 7: Eye MakeUp. I created a very soft, neutral, wearable eye makeup using the e.l.f. Brightening Eye Color quad in #11006.

Step 7.1: I started with applying the lightest (a little bit brownish) color on the quad all over my lid up to my brow bone using a flat shader brush from ecoTools.

Step 7.2: Next to it, with a blending brush, I took the peachy color on the quad and put it all over my lid on top of the first color that I have just applied.

Step 7.3: Then, with a pencil brush, I took the darker brown color on the quad and applied it to my crease in a windshield wiper motion. I did that repeatedly slowly building the color into my crease area. *I actually don’t have much of a crease…haha.*

Step 7.4: And because I was going for a soft neutral look, I used the darkest color on the quad as my eyeliner. I applied it as close as possible to my upper and lower lash line with an angled brush.

Step 8: Curl eyelashes. I guess that’s pretty self-explanatory.

Step 9: Coat eyelashes with mascara.

Step 10: Using my powder brush again from EcoTools, I applied my blush on the apples of my cheeks bringing that rosy glow all over my face. :)

Optional Step: I contoured my nose a little bit because I obviously don’t have a high-bridged nose. LOL. This step is completely optional.

Step11: Put on some lipstick. With this kind of look, I normally layer my lipsticks to achieve my desired lip color. That’s just me.

And there you have it! I know we have different styles of applying our makeup and this is just one of the ways on how I do mine. Please feel free to share your own style. And if you also have a youtube channel, just let me know and I would love to check it out.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!

Introduction: My Beauty Channel on YouTube

I am a late bloomer. You know why? Because I’m already 28 years old and I kid you not, I only discovered the world of beauty&fashion a year and a half ago. And I only started wearing makeup in the beginning of last year (2011). I learned by watching tons and tons of beauty videos on YouTube. There’s not a single day that I will not watch a beauty video. Until one day, I tried to see if I can also do what these beauty gurus have been doing and astonishingly, I can! Also, it felt really nice. It is very relaxing. I didn’t imagine it to be like that. Since then, I started wearing makeup to work, to malls, to the movie house and almost to everywhere. Not that I’m ashamed of how my face looks without makeup, it’s just that I enjoyed wearing makeup more than I thought I would. I started buying makeup products and it just makes me happy. My husband sometimes gets annoyed of my everyday hobby (watching too many beauty videos) but I still do it. Haha.

One day, when we’re eating at McDonalds, he said, “why don’t you do your own videos?” (I paraphrased it a little bit). I told him right away that I can’t, that’s it’s not who I am – but deep inside me, I was agreeing to his idea, maybe that’s what I really wanted to do, maybe that’s who I really am…

In May of this year, I quitted my job as an Interior Designer/Project Executive and stayed at home to be a full-time housewife. So I obviously had more time with my hobby: watching beauty videos (surprise, surprise! Haha). Until one day, I realized that I can do more with my free time than just watching those videos – that I can actually make ‘em (that was me daydreaming, haha!).

In July of this year, I finally got the courage to start my very own YouTube beauty channel. I actually have another channel which I opened back in 2008. That’s where I kind of upload videos of me singing random songs but I want to start fresh, so I did open a new channel and I feel happy about it. The feeling of being able to share with other people those things that I’ve never thought possible for me to do before is just incredibly wonderful.

So if you haven’t seen my channel yet. Now is a good time. Just click here and you’ll be brought there with ease. ^_^

My First Attempt: OMBRE NAILS!

Alrighty! Bloody Tipsy!

I was not really sure how it will turn out that's why I didn't even take any "behind-the-scenes" pictures. Anyway, it's just my first attempt. It's not yet perfect. It's actually far from perfect. LOL. But once I get the hang of it, I'll film a tutorial and will post it on my YouTube channel. Oh! Didn't I tell you I have one? Haha. =p

Just A Quick OOTD!

Photo taken from my Iphone

So, here's my OOTD on Sunday, 2nd September to the COMEX 2012 (Singapore's Biggest IT & Consumer Technology Exhibition) at Suntec Singapore - Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6.

I sported this white racerback tank top shirt and paired it with a black denim shorts. I put a cropped black denim jacket over my tank top and wore my nude flat shoes. For accessories, I just put on my silver butterfly earrings and my silver name necklace. My hair was just in its usual braided ponytail and I had my neutral makeup on.

My First Surprise Box: August Bellabox

Ever since I first saw a video on YouTube about a girl opening her “surprise box” (‘coz it is how I want to call it), I have already been in the search for something like that here in Singapore. The first subscription box that I find very enticing is Birchbox. So, I started looking for a Singapore version of it and luckily I found BellaBox!

It has the same concept as Birchbox, Influenster VoxBox, MyGlam and all the other beauty subscription boxes. You may want to check this link: http://forum.purseblog.com/the-beauty-bar/list-of-beauty-subscription-services-724498.html for a list of all the different beauty subscription services out there, but take note that the prices listed there might already be a little outdated. So with BellaBox, it is also about receiving a box filled with four to five deluxe samples from high-end brands and boutique and cult brands from around the world for only S$19.95 monthly. Even though I filled out the Beauty Profile that they asked me when I signed up, I still consider this as a surprise box because I still can never really guess what products I’m going to receive. So, I really get too excited for it.
My first surprise box arrived on 17th August, Friday night and I just can’t contain the happiness I felt upon seeing my very own surprise box for the first time. And instead of four products, I got six and a bonus item – an “I love SG inspired beach bag” (although I have to say that I don’t really find the bag so interesting).

A collage of pictures taken from my iphone
Inside the box, you’ll get a card with a list of all the products that you’re getting. So, for the month of August, these are what I got:

The only thing I have used in this set since I got ‘em is the china glaze nail polish. Once I have tried all the rest of the products shown above, I might make a review on each of them.
Right now, I just can’t wait for my SSB (September Surprise Box). Yay!
